AN ETHEREAL ESCAPE

Photos

My body of work explores the relationship between life and death while acknowledging the beautiful, inextricable link between the two.

My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the following artists: Bill Viola, Duane Michals, Michelangelo.

Marker's Commentary

An Ethereal Escape extends the genre of landscape photography and an exploration of site with the personal inclusion of a shrouded figurative form. The veiled figure encourages a closer look at the environment as the viewer rethinks what is being portrayed or how the performativity of the figure shifts the visual styling of landscape photography. The dual reality within the image reinforces the performative body that disturbs the passivity of the landscape photographs. The beautifully composed images with knowing tonal manipulation in the post production add to the almost melancholic observation provided in this photographic series.
