My body of work uses architectural forms and optical illusions to explore my personal and cultural values, expressed as a complex labyrinth. I used buildings to represent how identity is a construct, as we are shaped by our experiences of our world. Our life path is rarely clear. We traverse the landscape and, as in books, enter new chapters or rooms of our life. My intent was to create a visual biography that invites observation and reflection as understandings develop over time.
My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the following artists and works: MC Escher, Chaekgeori artworks.

This body of work; Books, Buildings & a Biography of Things is a delightful digital drawing work that embodies both the personal nature of the objects the artist has chosen to represent their life and the universal nature of how architecture and the home, books and objects connect with our fundamental human nature and sense of identity. The artist has digitally rendered an Escher-like but fundamentally contemporary environment with rich detail, global artist references, humour and virtuosity. The isometric grid-like construction draws the audience in to better appreciate the fine detail, perspective, colour choices and order from the chaos. The artist communicates their rich and deep understanding of the layered natures of our lives and the way we move in phases from one room to another as our interests in books and objects evolve over time. This body of work is thoroughly thoughtful, uniquely personal and beautifully rendered response to intimacy and the world around the artist.
