Drawing

An individual work or series of works with a focus on drawing (Visual Arts Stage 6 Syllabus).

In 2019, students submitting a Body of Work in this expressive form revealed traditional and contemporary drawing practices, including hyper-realistic, photo-realistic, illustration and graphics using digital media, with diverse materials such as coloured pencils, felt tip markers, biro and traditional charcoal and graphite. Through a demonstrated knowledge of the art world and the conventions of artistic representation, there were explorations of relationships between people and the natural world and references to physiological states and pathos. In exploring a range of subject matter foregrounding portraiture, animals and environments, students represented a range of viewpoints when composing and/or cropping in artworks and used size and scale to enhance audience engagement and conceptual intent.
